Orange-Pineapple Smoothie: A Refreshing Summer Drink
Friday, July 20, 2012
Anyone who lives in or has visited Wisconsin the last month can attest to the fact that it has been darned hot and humid. Not fun. Unless, of course, you're near a body of water or pool, or planted on a couch in an air-conditioned apartment or home.
As we all head into the hot Wisconsin weekend, here is an idea for a refreshing summer drink. Smoothies have for the last decade or so been a staple of the America diet, but many people buy them from stores instead of making their own. Buying is almost always more expensive, so go out and get your own ingredients!
Our favorite here at Lakeside Painting is the Orange-Pineapple smoothie. My goodness is it delicious and perfect for hot summer days and nights. The taste will be familiar to anyone who has enjoyed a Pina Colada, but this one comes without the alcohol. It looks like sunshine in a glass but tastes like a snowstorm sweeping across a topical island. Plus there's plenty of vitamin C in this drink, which makes for healthy living, and we could all use some more of that.
Give it a shot. You won't be disappointed.
Here is the recipe for one serving:
- 1 Orange
- 1/2 of frozen pineapple chunks
- 1/2 cup of Orange Juice (Ice cubes are optional)
- Blend it and serve!
