Use Dark Colors to Add Depth to Your Home
Thursday, July 12, 2012
Looking to expand the look of a room in your home's interior? Have you removed all the clutter and kept things quite minimal and you still feel that the room is not as expansive as you'd like it. Well, one way that we accomplish this task for homeowners here in the Milwaukee-area of Wisconsin is to use dark colors to add depth.
Pick a color, first of all. This will be the hard part. Once you've settled on a color, pick another hue in that spectrum of color. That is, if you settle on a dark red, for instance, pick a lighter hue of red and paint each set of opposing walls in of those hues. Dark will face dark, and light will face light. The interplay between the light and dark hues will create a more expansive look.
This technique works best, of course, if the room isn't perfectly square. The lighter hue should be on the longer walls, and the darker hue on the narrower walls.
