Victorian Wallpaper for Your Home
Wednesday, December 01, 2010
Victorian wallpaper is a great visual effect for any homeowner looking to mix up the design and appearance of a home.
Let’s say you’re looking to remodel a room and give it a classy and elegant look, you could do a number of things: faux finish, the cottage look, or even the Tuscan look, amongst other designs. We’ve also discussed the advantage of hanging wallpaper over traditional paint jobs and/or decorative painting techniques. To be a bit more specific, however, we’re going to discuss the hanging of Victorian wallpaper.
In Victorian times, very ornately-designed and multi-colored wallpaper was found everywhere. Not only were the designs found on walls, but on the fabric of drapes, bedspreads and on furniture like chairs and couches, for example.
All sorts of designs were to be found from floral and fruit patterns to heraldic-inspired or highly geometric shapes. In the 20th century, designs such as these lost favor but didn’t altogether disappear. Why? They still look fantastic and are making a come back as more and more people opt for retro looks (including homeowners in Southeastern Wisconsin).
If you want to evoke the Victorian period or perhaps just bring something new (since what is old is new), consider using Victorian wallpaper designs. There are a number of companies that specialize in this look, such as http://www.secondhandrose.com/ and o,thers that will help homeowners in the designing of a custom-made Victorian wallpaper.
Check out Wallpaper Wallpaper in Milwaukee or various paint supply shops, which should have wallpaper as well.
If you have any questions about finding wallpaper that will help you evoke the Victorian look inside your home, feel free to give Lakeside Painting a call at 262.642.9445 or email us at [email protected].
We’re happy to discuss the various ways to make this look happen for you and your home!
