Wallpaper of the Week: Cole & Son’s Contemporary II
Saturday, October 01, 2011
This week's Wallpaper of the Week is Cole & Son's Contemporary II. In past weeks, we've taken a look F. Schumacher's "Go Baroque" and Disney's "Toy Story" wallpapers. This week's choice will shake things up a bit.
Cole & Son traces its history back to 1875 when it was founded by John Perry in North London. The company is still all about the craft and one can tell simply by looking at the variety and detail of the wallpaper designs.
Contemporary II is a black and white design (or perhaps cream) with trees arranged in such a way as to create the illusion of depth. The artwork itself looks rather like lithography, and in that respect it is truly unique.
Everyone probably remembers the wallpaper design from the '70s and early '80s in which outdoor landscapes were printed on wallpaper and hung in the family recreation in many a Wisconsin home. While certainly interesting, those designs are quite dated now, but Cole & Son's Contemporary II design looks exceedingly modern, sleek and classy.
The perfect wallpaper to completely change the look and feel of a room and stun family and friends.
