Wallpaper of the Week: Flavor Paper ‘Chinatown Tile’
Friday, November 11, 2011
In our latest installment of Lakeside Painting's "Wallpaper of the Week," we take a look at a wallcovering from Brooklyn-based wallpaper design firm Flavor Paper.
Remember the scene in "Willy Wonka & The Chocoloate Factory," when Wonka implores the golden ticket winners to lick the flavored wallpaper some more, saying, "The snozberries taste like snozberries"? Yes. Yes, you do. Well, that is what Flavor Paper is up to—they are the Wonkas of Wallpaper.
Flavor Paper creates all sorts of designs, from traditional and abstract digital to "funky" and geometric. Some of their designs are even printed on difficult to install materials like Mylar covered layers of metal. These guys take their wallpaper design and installation seriously and we respect that.
One of the designs we came across was "Chinese Tile," which is red illustration on what seems rather like a pearl base color. The illustrations are quirky, involving a person sleeping on a bench, a lion having a seat, a guy gripping a dolly and a truck, amongst other things. This would look great in a teenager's room, or even for the redesign of a college-aged son or daughter coming home for the summer. After all, when home for the holidays and such, they need to feel comfortable and hip as well.
Head over to the Flavor Paper website for some specifics and to browse their other amazingly artistic creations.
