Lakeside Painting Raises Over $8,000 for Breast Cancer

Friday, September 07, 2018

As each summer draws to its close, we like to update Lakeside Painting's friends, vendors, and customers about the year's annual golf outing. In 2017, we raised $6,237.00 for hurricane relief via the United Methodist Church Relief - Hurricane (UMCOR) effort. The 2018 Lakeside Painting Golf Benefit Open, held on August 18th, was also a great success. All told, the participating golfers helped Lakeside Painting raise $8,104.10 for Breast Cancer.

As some of you might know, we chose breast cancer as this year's cause in memory of Kerry Smith (aka, Tia), sister of Lakeside Painting's Kim Pangburn. Kerry passed away from breast cancer in the summer of 2015. Since then, Kim has been a passionate advocate for research into breast cancer, alongside her family members, friends, and the Lakeside team. In this time, Kim and Joe have gotten to know Meghan Gaynor, a yoga instructor and volunteer firefighter who for the last three years has raced for the St. Germain Radar Racers, who race and raise funds for the Pink Ribbon Riders, an organization that stages an annual Breast Cancer bikini snowmobile radar run in St. Germain, Wisconsin. This past year, Meghan raced in memory of Kerry, and she was also in attendance at the Lakeside Painting Golf Benefit Open on behalf of the St. Germain Radar Racers and the Pink Ribbon Riders.

The funds raised during the 2018 edition of the Lakeside Painting Golf Benefit Open will go to the Pink Ribbon Riders. These funds, along with funds from other events, are being dispersed throughout the year across Wisconsin through the Pink Ribbon Riders assistance program, which provides financial support to men and women currently diagnosed and in treatment.

Everyone at Lakeside would like to thank all of the participants, whether you were a hole sponsor, donated a raffle prize, golfed, or otherwise volunteered your time. Together we will make a difference. It is our ultimate hope to stop breast cancer in its tracks. Way to go everyone!

If you missed the golf outing, but would like to support the Pink Ribbon Riders' effort in some way, please visit their website or contact them directly.
