Yangki Wallcoverings Evoke Summer of Love

Tuesday, December 14, 2010

We came across a very neat set of wallcoverings by Yangki, meant to evoke the feeling of Haight-Ashbury during the Summer of Love 1967.

Sondra Alexander is a designer and artisan who creates wallpapers and fabrics.  Recently, Alexander debuted her wallpaper designs inspired by the Haight-Asbhury Summer of Love.

“Summer of Love celebrates this revolutionary, expressive era by reinterpreting tie-dye in a sophisticated, eco-friendly wallcovering. Blending sustainable materials, organic rice paper is sculpted and hand painted with nontoxic, water-based paints.”

Each design evokes a particular word with nostalgic ties to the Summer of Love, such as: Starshine, Patchouli, Crystals, Obsidian and Opaline.  We think Alexander’s designs are a very interesting addition to decorative wallcoverings, giving the artform another dimension design, color and craftmanship.  Not to mention the wallpaper designs are eco-friendly in their hand manufacture and materials.

Alexander’s Summer of Love wallpaper can only be ordered through the trade, so if you’re interested in having these designs installed in your home or business, give Lakeside Painting a call at 262.642.9445 or email us at info@lakesidepainting.com.
